The 5th grade music program expands upon music-reading and performance skills acquired during the 4th grade year. Students utilize boomwhackers, pitched plastic tubes, and recorders in recognizing and mastering increasingly difficult rhythm and melody patterns in a variety of musical styles, incorporating seasonal selections as well. Critical listening skills are developed with classical pieces such as Grieg's "In the Hall of the Mountain King" and Bach's "Little Fugue in G Minor". Recorder Karate continues to be an optional self-paced individualized program offered to all 5th grade music students. Below you will find a few boomwhacker and recorder pieces that students study and master.
