2nd grade John Milledge students expand upon basic music theory knowledge. Focal units utilized during the year include playing boomwhackers, being introduced to the composer, Beethoven; memorizing various patriotic songs; and comparing numerous styles of music. Selections that allow for movement continue to be favorites with "Boom, Chica, Boom", "Get Up!", "Slick Back Jack", and "The Bat Dance".
